Let’s face it- Disney has been a big part of just about everyone’s life when growing up. It’s hard to believe a childhood without a myriad of Disney movies under one’s belt, but mistakes happen. If you’re looking to catch up on old times- no worries! There are a few Disney movies in particular that are worthy of note and merit.
The 1990’s brought many good movies for Disney, but few could stand up to the blockbuster hit The Lion King. The Lion King was a story set in the animal kingdom, in which aspects of death, social class, and relationships were taught along a very appealing plot. But it wasn’t just a good plot that made the movie- the art in the film was rivaled by few.
The Fox And The Hound was another cartoon put out by Disney that defied the cartoon standards of not being completely “serious.” This flick was all about the tragedy that comes from parting ways in life with others, among many other things to be taken from the main plot line. The level of depth in the storyline is comparable to notable movies such as the previously mentioned The Lion King.
Finding Nemo may not have been a nostalgic classic, but it wins merit with the fact that it has such a fun and entertaining storyline. Also the fact that the entire movie was made in a very stunning 3D world gives quite a bit of credit to the makers of the film. Like most Disney movies, Finding Nemo had a cult following of younger audiences- and still does to date.
Not every movie from Disney was targeted towards kids. The movie Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl was famed for its intriguing plot and atmosphere. Although many will say it was worth watching just for leading actor Johnny Depp, the storyline was indeed intriguing enough to keep one on the edge of his or her chair. It was so popular, in fact, that it spawned a sequel in coming years.
In closing, the proper Disney fan should take a long look at Cars. This Disney movie may not have the nostalgic value others do as it is newer, but it carries the cute and witty charm that similar Disney favorites have- such as Finding Nemo. Cars in particular had a cult following of kids and teens all across the nation, although it’s hard to find a Disney movie that hasn’t at some point in time.
Closing Comments
Disney movies continue to better the ones before them, with few exceptions. There are too many Disney movies to discuss in a single sitting, especially when considering some olden classics such as Fantasia or Tron. If at all possible, make a visit to your local video store and pick up a few of the mentioned topics- it’s well worth the rental price in gold.
